Our daughter, AnnaLisa, was nine when she got her first livestock animals; two bottle- fed Pygora kids. She fell in love with farming at that point. She later decided to raise Shetland sheep for their wonderful soft fiber and now as added Katahdin sheep for their delicious meat.
The above is Martha Washington and her first born ram. AnnaLisa just loves the softness of the fiber and how easy it is to spin. Her ram, George Washington, won Grand Champion at the Ingham County Fair in 2011! He is such a nice ram with gorgeous wool!
Introducing Clara the Cow! She arrived on our farm the spring of 2012.
We had lent our horse trailer to a friend. So we had to bring Clara Barton home in our van! It was almost a two hour trip & she was so good! She is such a sweetie. She follows us around. We hope to have her bred when she is older so we won’t have to drive so far for wonderful milk! (calf due in spring of 2014)
Do you remember who Clara Barton was in American History?
These two are enjoying the shade in the front yard.
Spring Babies at the Homeless Shelter
We have taken our barnyard up to the Rescue Mission for the Homeless in Lansing. Here are just a few photos from our visits.
The children love spending time with the animals and we love spending time with the children!
The photo to the right shows both kids sucking on the peppermint stick!
